This year’s Nashville North USA shows feature a new “Be a star” singing competition, featuring under 18 local talent competing for the top spot to open up our season finale show in September. The winner receives a $500.00 grand prize, A recording studio package and an autographed acoustic guitar signed by all our 2023 National acts sponsored by Morgan Music of Eau Claire WI.
We received many wonderful video auditions! Thanks to everyone who submitted their video for the 2023 “BE A STAR” singing competition.
The four semi-finalists below were selected from the video submissions received during the “Be a Star” enrollment period. For those that didn’t make it to the semi-finalist round, we welcome you to enter again for the 2024 “BE A STAR” competition. Submission will begin at the close of the 2023 contest.

The winner of the Nashville North USA Singing Competition will receive a $500.00 grand prize, an autographed acoustic guitar signed by all our 2023 acts, and studio recording time!
The winner will also get to perform as the opening act for the Nashville North’s Season Finale show.

Multi-instrumentalist Paul Tweed operates and is lead producer at Bar-N Studios, focusing on artists' visions and creating projects to meet the needs of all levels of musicians.
With a long history of playing in a wide variety of bands including rock, country, and jazz, Paul founded Bar-N studio first as a studio for friends and bandmates, and has since expanded to work with musicians from all around the region.
Peter Phippen is a performing recording artist specializing in traditional flutes and flute music from around the world.
Among some of his talents some may not know? Peter Phippen is also a very accomplished Bass guitar player who has been in many different types of genre bands. Peters travels have led him across the U.S. to say the least. He calls Eau Claire home and has become a pillar in the local music scene. We here at Nashville North USA are excited to have Peter as one of our Judges for the new 2023 "Be a Star "Music competition!
Kim is a Music Therapist and owner of Western Wisconsin Music in Medicine, which offers a variety of therapeutic music services.
She has played guitar since she was 10 years old and has opened up for numerous bands such as Sawyer Brown, Marie Osmond, Lorrie, Morgan, Hal Ketchum, Suzy Bogguss and many more at Country USA, Country Jam, Rock Fest, and Country Fest.
2021 WAMI (Wisconsin Area Music Industry) Peoples Choice Award for Best Music Teacher.
Victoria Shoemaker received a Bachelor of Music degree in music education from VanderCook College of Music (Chicago, Illinois), where she studied classical flute and piccolo performance.
Since the release of her debut album, The Witching Hour in 2016, Victoria has continued to perform regularly across Wisconsin and the mid-west.
The Be A Star singing competition is a process of elimination contest. On May 25th 2023, Four contestants will be chosen to compete in the Be a Star singing competition which begins on June 6th, 2023. Each chosen contestant will receive 2 General Admission Tickets good for all 4 show, plus a “Be a Star” T-shirt.
All chosen contestants will need to be prepared to perform 2 songs each. Contestants must either be able to play or provide their own accompaniment. No backing or pre-recorded tracks will be allowed. This is a live performance.
All selected contestants must be available for all of the following dates.
June 6th – 4 contestants will compete and 3 will move on to compete on July 11th.
July 11th – 3 contestants will compete and 2 will move on to compete on August 8th
August 8th – The final 2 contestants will compete and the winner will be announced.
Sept 12th – The winner will perform at the season finale show as the Opening Act!
There will be a panel of 4 professional music industry Judges (see bios above). Winners will be announced before the headlining artists performance at each show.
After completing and submitting the Entry Form, you will be contacted if you are selected as a semi-finalist.
Contestants must be under the age of 18 and have consent from their legal guardian. Amateur musicians only.
If you are selected as a semi-finalist, you will be contacted at the email address you used to submit your entry.
Semi-finalists will be contacted by May 25th, 2023. If you have not been contacted by then, you were not selected as a semi-finalist.
